It is with deep regret and sadness that we have to make this statement. A member of Misfit Sanctuary, Scott Holbrook, has been accused of disseminating an obscenity to another adult that involves a minor. At this time, Scott was arrested by the Gaston County Sherriff’s Department, has bonded out, and now is waiting for his court date. Whether or not Scott is guilty, it is not our place as one of his spiritual homes to decide his guilt. That is the job of the legal system. However, our most important concern and job is to protect our youngest and most vulnerable members. In order to fully do this, Scott has been told that he is not allowed to attend any more Misfit Sanctuary functions until his case has been fully resolved by the legal system. At that time, we will decide what further action to take. However, we will still minister and care for Scott and his family as they need and request.
During times like these, when horrible things happen, it is very easy to get angry, jump to conclusions, and publicly vent. We would ask that you please refrain from doing that. We are available to talk about this matter, listen to your concerns, and offer guidance. If you would like to speak to Misfit Sanctuary clergy, please call 704-931-4183. We would also like to ask you to please keep in your thoughts and prayers all members that are involved in this matter and to ask that the legal system act quickly and that justice is served.
