Welcome to our Outreach page. Where we will keep everyone updated  on our ongoing Outreach activities & projects. Misfit Sanctuary and it’s members are dedicating to helping others whenever & however we can. Each lending their energies in their own way. Some folks may able to physically get out there and help, while others send donations, prayers and energies. Insuring that we have assisted to the very best of our ability. And when it’s another Misfit in need, we more than rise to the occasion. If you would like to be involved in any of our Outreach projects contact us at  misfitsanctuary1@yahoo.com

Cold Weather Care Packages

One of our ongoing outreach projects is the Cold Weather Care Packages. This project was inspired by a Homeless Veteran. I was on way home from a Drs. appointment, when I was getting off the exit ramp there was a homeless guy sitting at the end of the ramp. When I saw him I felt like crap because I didn’t have anything to give him. Only thing I could do was get him a nice warm lunch. Just so happens  the Sanctuary was gifted with a donation of $200.00 that very day, which enabled us to make up 20 care package that consisted of 1pr of wool gloves, 1pr of wool socks, a toboggan , 1 can of pork & beans, 1 can of Vienna sausages,1 pk of fig newtons, 1 pk of cheddar cheese crackers, and 2 candy canes. We thought it would be great in conjunction with the blanket drive we were organizing. And it was over 40 blankets were given out,  as well as over a dozon coats & Jackets. Doug Hoffman and myself, decided to get right out there distribute some of theses packages throughout  Gaston & Cleveland County. We spent a lot many early morning hours as well as several evening hours too, trying to locate the homeless people in our area. And let me tell you, it was a challenge. We literally had to gain their trust, before they would share any information as to the whereabouts of others. We went into their camps and we listened to there stories. We gained their trust through mutual respect and honesty. Just like us they are a very tight family, theirs just happens to be on the streets. We both learned a lot during those cold and early mornings. It was a very emotional time for me, it made me appreciate everything I had, as well as plant a desire in me to want to do this every year. It was a honor working with Doug Hoffman along with the other Misfits and their families. They dedicated their time, energy and resources for our cause. Working with the Sanctuary, Salvation Army and other local ministries, gave me hope for the human race as a whole. It was a life lesson in humanity. One of the things my Goddess has taught me, is that as long as we stand together, no matter what our race, our religion, our social level or anything else that makes us different, we still stand strong. We are all her children and she will always take care of us. We should act as our Mother does and love everyone!!!
