Snake – Drew

The snake, one of the oldest religious symbols, is to me the ultimate symbol of nature. They have fascinated and intrigued me since childhood. After all these years, the feeling I receive from interactions with snakes in the wild is still the primordial raw energy, as it was all those many years ago when I caught my first snake. I feel the closest to the divine when I hold a wild snake.

The snake has been recognized and worship as a god from the beginning of man’s existence in connection with fertility, immortality, and creation. Snakes are the umbilical cord joining all humans to Mother Earth. Snakes held a prominent role and place in every culture’s history and myths, and they still do so today. The snake is to be respected and admired. The ancient Greeks believed that to have a snake lick the eyes and ears were to gain second sight and hearing. Snakes rarely attack unless provoked, however people should be on guard around snakes since they don’t always give warning before an attack.
